APHC TO HONOUR ALL DISCOUNT VOUCHERS OFFERED FOR OTHER COMPETENT PERSONS SCHEMES
With several manufacturers now offering plumbing and heating engineers discount vouchers to join a variety of schemes, APHC has announced that it will honour all discount vouchers against its Competent Persons Scheme. This means that companies can join the most comprehensive CP scheme and save potentially hundreds of pounds.
Many of the vouchers being offered by manufacturers are to encourage companies to join certain specific schemes directly after training; for example, on completing an OFTEC-developed course there is an incentive to join the OFTEC Competent Persons Scheme. However, what these companies may not realise is that APHC’s CPS covers all oil works, as well as other disciplines. In fact the standards APHC’s CPS demands for oil are the same government-set standards as developed by OFTEC.
Mike Phoenix, Certification Manager for APHC’s CPS, commented:
“Good oil installers realise that they need to join a Competent Persons Scheme but many are not aware that there is now more than one option for them. We hope that by honouring these manufacturers’ vouchers, more companies will be able to benefit from the most comprehensive scheme on the market, saving time and money, as well as working to the same standards.
“Oil installers believe they must be OFTEC approved but in fact the APHC Competent Persons Scheme adopts the same standards - and more, covering the entire work area of the installer. We don’t want installers to be led just by special offers, we want to ensure they meet their regulatory requirements.”
With a typical voucher available, APHC’s CPS covers all systems (except gas) for the one set fee of approximately £25 per month for five qualified operatives. This includes:
-
Hot water systems
-
Heating systems including solar
-
Oil, vaporising and pressure jets
-
Solid fuel (compatible with HETAS scheme)
-
Unvented hot water
-
Plumbing systems, bathrooms/sanitation
-
Part P Electrics
Plumbing and heating companies only need to be a member of one Scheme: the APHC scheme minimises cost and hassle and is easily the most cost effective.
